The Man Who Stayed Behind
May 03, 2007 09:34 AM PDT
Today I would like to recommend a book for the people who are interested in understanding our Chinese people and the pain we suffered in the last century. This book is The Man Who Stayed Behind. The Chinese version of this book is 《红幕后的洋人——李敦白回忆录》. One of the authors, Sidney Rittenberg (Chinese name李敦白) , an American, lived in China for 35 years including 16 years in prison. He underwent all the things we Chinese experienced at the Maoist era. Once you learn the past, you may understand Chinese people at present better. The following is the preface of this book in Chinese: 《红幕后的洋人——李敦白回忆录》前言
我写这本书,只因为我必须写。

Podcast SummaryI hope the stuff I make here can help some people who are learning and going to learn Mandarin Chinese. I would appreciate your help if you could point out my wrong usage of English. Also I hope someone can send me English stories for kids(together with sound would be better) because my son and daughter are learning English at school in Beijing. They like to listen to stories very much. Anyway, your visit is a kind of support to me.
